Mindful Movement Physiotherapy Director, Georgie Davidson is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, yoga teacher and facilitator of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) courses in South Australia. She is an Associate of Openground Australia. For 30 years she has been teaching movement, with her personal practice guiding her to explore creative ways to blend a contemporary knowledge of human movement with yoga and mindfulness to help people flourish in their lives. Georgie has worked with a vast cross section of people from teenagers to the elderly, those with chronic pain and illness, students, teachers, athletes and business leaders.
Georgie is a gifted group facilitator and offers people body-mind experiences that invite new ways of responding to physical and emotional pain. Her unique combination of training, experience and personal attributes to be able to inquiry with insight, kindness and curiousity offers particpants in her programs potentially transformative learning opportunities.
Georgie works with Flinders University and University of South Australia to provide mindfulness-based programs to students of paramedics, allied health and resonsible leadership. She has presented lectures and workshops on mindfulness and pain at conferences, to physiotherapists and to community groups.Georgie received grants from WorkCover SA return to work fund in 2012 to trial MBSR for injured workers and in 2014 to create and teach educational program "Preventing Chronicty".
Georgie taught mindful yoga for a Repatriation Hospital research project investigating the effects of yoga for veterans with PTSD. The paper showed significant benefits to particpants and is currently awaiting publication in the journal Australisian Psychiatry.
Georgie is frequently invitated to speak at conferences, workplaces and to community groups. She has spoken at conferences in the recent years for the following organisations:
Australian Continence Association, Australian Pain Society, Yoga Teacher Association, Australian Physiotherapy Association - SA branch, Neuro Orthopaedic Institute, Mindfulness Science and Practice: An International Conference. Georgie's mindfulness training includes: University of Massachusetts Mind-Body 7-day residential offered by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli (2009); 10-day MBSR/MBCT Openground Practicum (2010); Advanced 8-day Residential Teacher Intensive with Bob Stahl and Florence Meleo-Meyer (2012). MTIA Supervisor Workshop (2014); Rick Hanson's Positive Neuroplasticity Course and Teacher Training Workshop (2015).
